AQUATICS

Learning to swim offers so much more than safety in the water. It builds self-confidence, develops self-esteem and makes water a safe, fun environment for a lifetime! Here at the Y, we host several aquatics programs, including swim lessons, a swim team and swim camp, Arthritic Splash, Aquafit, Power Aqua Fitness, Aqua Zumba and even a lifeguard certification course!

Swim Lessons for Special Needs

The Y is dedicated to elevating and promoting equality within communities around the country, guaranteeing opportunity and advancement for all while striving to identify and eliminate barriers that prevented the full participation of some groups. Through this swimming program, parents and caregivers of children with special needs will be given the opportunity to provide their children with the means to learn fundamental water safety and swimming skills for FREE. Knowing how to be safe around water is one of the most important life skills we can teach our children. It gives them confidence and it can save their lives.

What We Teach

Using an evidence-based curriculum, the Diverse Abilities Swim Lessons program will be placed in skill and ability-specific programs based on their needs. Student to instructor ratio is no more than 1-5 with lower ratios as needed. Learning to stay safe around water may begin at the Y, but it doesn’t end there. That’s why there is a Family Education Component that reinforces the learning at home and helps children progress more quickly.

Aqua Zumba

Make a splash! Bring the party to the pool! This program gives new meaning to an “invigorating workout!” Splashing, stretching, twisting, shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering…that’s what you’ll hear in Aqua Zumba. Integrating Zumba blends it all together in a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning and exhilarating beyond belief.
