COVID Updates

Statewide “Pause” Mandate Information | COVID-19

Governor Sisolak has enacted an executive order that once again requires us to temporarily place restrictions on certain areas of our operations beginning Tuesday, November 24th, for a period of at least three weeks to slow the spread of COVID-19.

So what is changing?

Capacity Reduced to 25%

Beginning Tuesday, November 24th, all YMCA of Southern Nevada locations will begin operating at 25% capacity, due to a public health mandate set forth by Governor Sisolak. This includes group exercise classes, cardio areas, strength and weight areas. Please see your local branch for information on the current capacity sizes for each space/activity.

Mask Requirements

In addition, masks will be required at ALL TIMES within all YMCA of Southern Nevada facilities, during all exercises. No exceptions will be granted at this time, per the governor’s orders. Face shields will continue to be permitted ONLY for those who cannot wear a mask due to a medical condition. If an exercise is deemed too strenuous to perform while wearing a mask, an alternate exercise must be chosen. Please see your local health and wellness staff for more information on alternate exercises. Please note that masks ARE NOT to be worn while in the pool, only on the pool decks, once members have exited the water.

While this order does impact our fitness operations, gyms and pools, it does not impact our mission critical programs and virtual options – and it is through our programs that we are able to offer the services that meet our members and neighbors at the heart of where they need us most. You already know – the Y is so much more than a gym! With your continued membership, the Y will continue to operate:

Y Cares & Preschool

The Y’s role in child care continues to be at the forefront of what so many of our members need. We are committed to ensuring that the children in our care are engaged, happy and safe. This means that all Y Cares Educational Enrichment Program and Preschool operations will continue with all appropriate social distancing, cleaning and safety protocols in effect. Hours of operation will remain the same and more information is available on our website at Y Cares and Y Preschool.

Virtual Fitness Programs

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have created a robust virtual experience loaded with fitness content for our members of all ages and abilities to use at home. In compliance with the governor’s public health mandate, our in-person classes are operating at 25% (pre-registration required). We understand some members do not feel comfortable coming to class so we’re bringing classes to you! Our new virtual class schedule was designed with you in mind and is only accessible to active members. Please stay tuned for further information on when these online virtual classes will be available! Click here for the schedule! All you’ll need to access these classes is your Y member keycard number.

In the meantime, visit our Facebook page for live streamed workouts to get your blood pumping and your body moving at home! Classes are suitable for all ages and ability levels. Click here for a current Facebook Live schedule.
