About Us

Our Strength is in Community

Welcome to the Y. We're an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility in Southern Nevada.

Lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause.  Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

Setting the Pace Since 1944

When it comes to improving the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, no one does it better than the YMCA of Southern Nevada. Established locally in 1944 (two years before Bugsy Siegel opened the Flamingo!) we're one of the region's longest-serving and most-respected nonprofit organizations. Like all Ys, ours is governed by a local volunteer board of directors who make decisions based on community needs.

We're dedicated to meeting the demands of today’s family. From toddlers to grandparents of toddlers, everyone feels at home at the Y. It’s no surprise considering our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are at the heart of everything we do. Members of every age and fitness level value our values. It’s the tie that binds our Y family together. It’s what makes us special and keeps members engaged.

Our Impact is Felt Every Day

Each year, more than 50,000 Southern Nevadans – parents, teens, infants, seniors and at-risk youth – are enriched through the Y. Residents access hundreds of award-winning aquatic, health and fitness, youth and family, and sporting activities led by trained instructors and volunteers. In the process, they meet friends, enjoy social activities and make memories that last a lifetime. Most importantly, no one is turned away because of an inability to pay. The Y Annual Campaign financial assistance program makes it possible. Thanks to generous donors, we’re able to give the Y experience to those who might not otherwise have access.

Find Your Y

Our four Ys are conveniently located near schools, highways and thriving neighborhoods. And they’ll “wow” you. Water parks, indoor and outdoor pools, fully equipped fitness centers, cycling studios, basketball courts, gymnasiums, racquetball and tennis courts, aerobics and yoga studios, computer learning centers and a 34-foot rock wall (no kidding!) are among the amenities. Locker rooms, kids and baby gyms, lounges, playgrounds and even a skate park add to the picture.

Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow...For Good

We’re proud that our local roots date back to 1944, but London has a century on us. The worldwide YMCA movement got its start in England in 1844. Today across the U.S., 2,687 Ys engage 21 million individuals to nurture the potential of children, improve the nation's health and well-being, and provide opportunities to support neighbors. Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain. The Y is - and always will be - dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure adults, children, families and communities.

Fun Fact: While we love the Village People’s disco anthem “YMCA,” you can’t stay at ours. In the early days of the movement, dormitories were designed into YMCA buildings and staying at the YMCA was popular through the 1950s. The song is number 7 on VH1’s list of The 100 Greatest Dance Songs of the 20th Century. Who knew!
