Statement of Community Problem

In one chair, a child is introduced to life-shaping experiences and is helped to grow into a responsible, successful adult.  Through one pair of goggles, a child learning to swim does so in an environment filled with individuals who are committed to helping that child grow in confidence and self-esteem.  With one dollar, the YMCA of Southern Nevada is able to provide state-of-the-art recreation, education and fitness opportunities to those who might not otherwise have access.

The YMCA works all year long to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.  We do this by offering a variety of programs to children, families, seniors and adults of all backgrounds and all economic levels...regardless of their ability to pay.  How can we meet their needs?  Through your generous donations.

Each year, volunteers from our community (your friends, your neighbors and those you do business with) join the YMCA in asking for your support.  All contributions stay right here in Southern Nevada and benefit the Y's financial assistance program, which assists those in need who cannot afford to pay for YMCA program or membership fees.  At the YMCA, no one is turned away for an inability to pay.  In 2005, $462,000 was raised to enable 11,000 individuals to participate in the YMCA experience.
